A STROLL THROUGH CENTRAL PARK

_SC_0970

You may be wondering why it is currently still snowing in New York. Well, it is not. These photos were recovered from my disk back in February. What helped me survive the snow storm weather was wearing a lot of layers. In this outfit, and other days in New York, I wore so many clothing pieces. I wore two pairs of leggings and my Zara wax pants, one tank top and two t-shirts, two pairs of socks, rain boots, a scarf, and either a beanie or a hat. Before I left Los Angeles, my mother made sure I packed heavy, considering she was raised in the coldest winters and I in Southern California. She was the reason why I stayed so warm in the below zero degree weather. When packing for snow, thick leggings and layering is the way to go.

CAREY MILLIGAN-VOGUE US MAY2013

 8
I remember reading The Great Gatsby in my high school freshman class. It is a very great but tragic novel. Before finishing the book, and with no sneak peeks at Sparknotes- hehe, I thought that Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan would end up happily married. By the end of the novel, I was shocked and full of tears from the tragic outcome of Jay Gatsby.
In this Vogue May 2013 cover, Carey Milligan shoots as Daisy Buchanan. I am drooling over the beautiful 1920’s gowns and heels. She is an amazing author and I cannot wait until the movie comes out to see her character played. I’m anticipate that the clothes, the scenes, and the music are going to be just as stunning as the trailers look.

BRIGHTS

DSC_0903
Growing up I do not remember my mother in pants, short, or leggings. She was born in the mid 60s and went through a lot of trends, especially in the 80s. But she always had a beautiful sense of style and class. I can recall my mother only wear skirts and dresses. Now that I am older, I look up to her fashion. Class and elegance, encourage by my mum is the image I want to share in this post.

MAD MEN PARTY

DSC_0415

These photos were lost files from my friend’s birthday party, a few weeks ago. The theme was Mad Men and everyone went all out. It was one of the greatest birthdays I have been to, yet. The night was filled with dancing, music, and karaoke. There was also awards given out. I won the “best costume”. When looking for the perfect outfit, I was lost. In fact, this dress was purchased 30 minutes before the party. I had to work the day of the party but after work I rushed to Nordstroms and asked for an a-line dress, she took me to the Taylor’s collection and I chose this beautiful white dress. The black headpiece worn was purchased three years ago, but never put in use. I instantly grabbed it and headed out of the house.
If there is ever a theme you want to go by, choose Mad Men, or Golden Age. I promise, your guests will have so much fun.

VIVA LA MEXICO

DSC_0797

Living in Los Angeles, I am surrounded by culture. I breath it, I see it, I hear it. Being brought up in  diversity, I enjoy learning about other nations and their upbringings. Mexico is one of the many biggest populations in Los Angeles and being so significant, I was inspired when I purchased this poncho from Zara, last summer. When I look at this poncho, it reminds me of the close knit-families, the amazing food, to the awesome sombreros to the ponchos. Now if you are wondering where I took the photos, I took them sometime last week in front of my neighbor’s back yard. Pretty cool back yard, no?
He has awesome landscaping with actual dead carcases near almost every cactus. It is pretty creepy, but you have to admit, it’s also pretty rad.
Now that I shared one of my favorite cultures, what is yours?
